In 2014, at 11 years-old old, Saadatu got displaced from her Gowza hometown in Borno State, Nigeria. The once peaceful hometown of Saadatu, turned into a battlefield
The violent onslaught of Boko Haram forced her and her husband to, flee for their lives. The family embarked on a perilous journey to Adamawa State where they experienced the same attack and eventually found refuge in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Abuja 2 years ago
Saadatu, already traumatized by the displacement, faced another blow. She contracted a severe infection that lingered due to the poor living conditions and lack of proper medical care.
Life in the IDP camp was far from the haven they had hoped for. The facilities were deplorable with horrendous living conditions, inadequate sanitation, and scarce medical supplies
Despite her best efforts to endure and hope for better days, the infection took a devastating toll. Saadatu, then pregnant, suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. The loss was unbearable, yet she continued to fight for the sake of her family. Now, Saadatu is 6 months pregnant again, living each day in constant fear of another miscarriage
In 2023, bandits invaded her community Mangu Local Government Area of Jos. People were killed and houses were burnt.
22 year-old Patient fled Jos and relocated to the Abuja IDP Camp where she had her first child in a makeshift camp.
A severely malnourished 7-month-old Sadiq who was abandoned from birth by his biological Mother suffers from lack of protein and proper balanced diet. He has been deprived of essential nutrients and vital nourishment of breastfeeding .
He has later diagnosed of marasmus which was due to lack of proteinous diet. Abubakar Sadiq would constantly feed on local maize provided to him by his adopted Mother, Hadiza Aliu.
Being in the IDP Camp limits his abilities and survival to live, his foster Mother who was displaced from her home town in maiduguri and currently resides in the IDP Camp can only provide little for him to survive.
